Fellow of the International Academy of Ophthalmology (IAO), Fellow of the Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences, President of the Hong Kong Ophthalmological Society, Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Head of Paediatric Ophthalmology at Hong Kong Eye Hospital, Chief of Service of the Department of Ophthalmology at Hong Kong Children's Hospital. Concurrently serves as Board Member of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO), Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Society (APSPOS), Board Member of the Asia-Pacific Myopia Society (APMS), Chair of the Myopia Committee of the International Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Council (IPOSC), Chair of the 2017 Asia-Pacific Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Congress, Chair of the 2025 Asia-Pacific Myopia Congress, and Chair of the 2026 Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congress.

Recipient of the 2024 National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (China), 2019 Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons, 2021 Hong Kong Humanity Award, listed among the World's Top 2% Most Influential Scientists (2022–2025), ranked among the Asia-Pacific's 100 Most Influential Ophthalmologists (2023 and 2025), and recipient of the DeOcampo Lecture Award – the highest academic honor in ophthalmology conferred by the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology – in 2023.

As Principal Investigator of the LAMP-1 randomized clinical trial, the LAMP-2 randomized clinical trial, and the Hong Kong Children's Eye Program, he has secured over HK$100 million in research funding. He has published more than 240 SCI-indexed articles, including in JAMA, and his work has been selected among China's Top Major Medical Advances of 2023.
