主持国家重大科技专项、重大科学仪器专项、国际科技合作专项、“863”计划、支撑计划、攻关计划、公益行业专项及国家自然科学基金等国家级课题23项，部省级20项；获四川省科技进步特等奖等部省级科技奖13项；获得国家新药证书2项、国家发明专利8项及软件著作权17项；已培养博士硕士研究生百余人；发表学术论文200余篇，主编《中西医结合眼科学》《中医眼科学》高等院校本科国家规划教材（“十一五”、“十二五”、“十三五”、“十四五”、“十五五”）， 主编《中医眼科临床研究》高等院校研究生国家规划教材。创新“阳虚致变”理论与“玄府通道”学说；创制国家中药新药“芪明颗粒”和国家中药新药“丹红化瘀口服液”；创立近视防控11法则与“1+3+N”中西医结合防控方案。

Has served as principal investigator for 23 national-level research projects, including the National Major Science and Technology Projects, Major Scientific Instrument Projects, International Science and Technology Cooperation Projects, the "863" Program, Key Technology R&D Program, National Key Technology Research and Development Program, Public Welfare Industry Special Projects, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as 20 provincial/ministerial-level projects. He has received 13 provincial/ministerial-level science and technology awards, including the Special Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of Sichuan Province. He holds 2 National New Drug Certificates, 8 National Invention Patents, and 17 Software Copyrights. He has supervised over 100 doctoral and master's students and has authored or co-authored over 200 academic papers. He is the editor-in-chief of the national planning textbooks for higher education undergraduate programs in TCM Ophthalmology, including Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Ophthalmology and Traditional Chinese Medicine Ophthalmology (for the "11th Five-Year", "12th Five-Year", "13th Five-Year", "14th Five-Year", and "15th Five-Year" plan periods), as well as the national planning textbook for graduate programs, Clinical Research in Traditional Chinese Medicine Ophthalmology. He has innovated the "Yang Deficiency-Induced Change" theory and the "Xuanfu Channel" theory. He has developed the national new TCM drugs Qiming Granule and Danhong Huayu Oral Liquid. He has established the 11 Rules for Myopia Prevention and Control and the "1+3+N" Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Prevention and Control Plan.
