Lei Fang earned his bachelor and master
degrees from Wuhan University, and doctoral degree from Northwestern University
under the supervision of Nobel Laureate Professor Fraser Stoddart. He
subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University with
Professor Zhenan Bao. Prior to returning to China, he served as Full Professor
and Graduate Program Chair in the Department of Chemistry at Texas A&M
University, and Senior Associate Editor of the ACS journal ACS Omega. During
his career in the United States, he led and participated in numerous research
projects funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of
Energy, the National Institutes of Health, and the Welch Foundation. He joined
Yongjiang Laboratory in 2025 and was selected into the Zhejiang Top Talent
Program and the Kunpeng Talent Program of the Ningbo Yongjiang Talent Project.
To date, he has published over 120
peer-reviewed papers, with total citations exceeding 9,000 and an H-index of
49. He has received numerous international honors, including Fellow of the
Royal Society of Chemistry, NSF CAREER Award, Alexander von Humboldt Senior
Research Fellowship, and the Distinguished Lectureship Award of the Chemical
Society of Japan. His research interests focus on optoelectronic functional
polymers (including conjugated ladder polymers), brain-computer interface
materials, organic porous materials, and membrane materials.
