Dr. Naimah Ebrahim Khan is the Academic Leader of the Optometry discipline at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She holds a Master’s degree and PhD in Optometry, with research focused on clinically relevant and socially responsive eye care. Her Master’s research evaluated diagnostic tests for dry eye disease, while her doctoral research developed a digital vision screening tool for South African primary school learners, highlighting the application of technology in resource-constrained settings.

Dr. Ebrahim Khan has an established international academic profile and serves as a Visiting Professor at Wenzhou Medical University. She contributes actively to research development and academic leadership within her discipline. Her teaching portfolio spans undergraduate and postgraduate education, with a strong emphasis on research supervision, mentorship, and clinical training.

Her research interests include contact lenses, dry eye disease, vision screening, public health optometry, and innovation in eye care. She has secured competitive research funding and presented her work internationally across Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, and North America.
