李辉荣博士长期聚焦于年龄相关性黄斑变性等视网膜疾病的基础与转化研究。主要学术贡献包括:(1)首次在分子与功能水平鉴定出一个新型视网膜色素上皮(RPE)细胞亚群,系统阐明了该亚群在RPE异质性变性过程中的关键作用及其分子机制;(2)在感光细胞变性领域,揭示了自噬与HMOX1在感光细胞中兼具保护与毒性双重效应的分子机制,并发现了感光细胞内源性保护信号通路KITL/KIT所介导的自主调控模式;(3)在色素细胞发育方面,系统证实KITL/KIT信号通路是调控色素细胞发育与分化过程的关键微环境因子。
近年来,以第一作者或通讯作者(含共同)在eLife、Cell Reports、Molecular Neurodegeneration、Development等权威期刊发表SCI论文10余篇。主持国家自然科学基金面上项目1项,已结题国家自然科学基金青年项目1项及浙江省自然科学基金一般项目1项。

Dr. Li Huirong has long focused on basic and translational research into age-related macular degeneration and other retinal disorders. His major academic contributions include: (1) identifying a novel subpopulation of retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells at the molecular and functional levels, and systematically elucidating its critical role and molecular mechanisms in heterogeneous RPE degeneration; (2) in the field of photoreceptor degeneration, revealing the dual protective and cytotoxic effects of autophagy and HMOX1 in photoreceptors, and discovering an endogenous protective signaling pathway, KITL/KIT, that mediates an autonomous regulatory mode in photoreceptors; and (3) in the context of pigment cell development, systematically demonstrating that the KITL/KIT signaling pathway serves as a key microenvironmental regulator of pigment cell development and differentiation.
In recent years, as first author or corresponding author (including co-authorship), he has published over 10 papers in the journals such as eLife, Cell Reports, Molecular Neurodegeneration, and Development. He is the principal investigator of one General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and has successfully completed one NSFC Young Scientist Program project and one General Project of the Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation.
