Professor Elsheikh is one of the internationally renowned researchers in the field of ocular biomechanics. He has collaborated extensively with a wide network of researchers in the UK, Europe, Australia, China and the USA including Wenzhou Medical University. Professor Elsheikh is a Chartered Engineer, a corporate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has published 2 books, over 200 journal papers and 170 conference papers. Dr Elsheikh has long practical experience as a structural engineer, and his recent work includes the development of a number of medical devices to help improve the management of eye diseases. Professor Elsheikh leads the Ocular Biomechanics Research Group in Liverpool University with interest in ocular material characterisation and numerical simulation of ocular biomechanical performance.
